Authorship and Contributorship

Purpose

The Chinese Journal of Cancer Prevention & Treatment (CJCPT) is committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publishing. All individuals listed as authors should have made substantial intellectual contributions to the work and should accept responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the published research.

Authorship Criteria

CJCPT follows the authorship recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). To qualify as an author, an individual should satisfy all of the following criteria:

  • Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  • Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  • Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.
  • Accept accountability for all aspects of the work and cooperate in resolving questions related to its accuracy or integrity.

Individuals who do not meet all of these criteria should not be listed as authors.

Contributorship

The corresponding author should provide a clear description of the contribution made by each author at the time of submission. Contributors who assisted with technical support, language editing, data collection, administrative assistance, or funding acquisition, but who do not meet the criteria for authorship, should be acknowledged appropriately with their permission.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all eligible contributors are included as authors.
  • Confirming that all authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript.
  • Managing communication with the Editorial Office throughout the submission, peer review, and publication process.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of author information, affiliations, and declarations submitted to the journal.

Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author, together with a detailed explanation and written agreement from all affected authors. The Editorial Office may request additional documentation before considering such changes. Requests made after acceptance will be evaluated only under exceptional circumstances.

Authorship Misconduct

The journal does not permit inappropriate authorship practices, including but not limited to:

  • Gift or honorary authorship.
  • Ghost authorship.
  • Purchased or fraudulent authorship.
  • Omission of individuals who meet the authorship criteria.

Suspected authorship misconduct will be investigated in accordance with the journal's ethical procedures and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Where necessary, appropriate editorial actions, including manuscript rejection, correction, or retraction, may be taken.

Author Responsibility

All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the research and should ensure that the data presented are accurate, original, and reported honestly. Authors are expected to disclose any conflicts of interest, funding sources, and ethical approvals as required by the journal.

Compliance with International Standards

CJCPT adheres to the authorship recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the ethical guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to promote responsible authorship, transparency, and accountability in scientific publishing.

Policy Review

This policy may be revised periodically to reflect updates in international publication ethics and best editorial practices. Authors should consult the latest version before submitting their manuscripts.
